The reason for the decrease in market share is because of the impact of the epidemic for 3 consecutive years, making export activities difficult. According to Taiwan’s regulations, tea products imported into this market must meet “regulations on inspection of imported food and related products”. Importers must register for inspection with the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in which, some products are prohibited from importing items originating from Red China.

According to Taiwan’s import tariff, the import tariff on tea exports of Vietnamese origin ranges from 17% to 22% or 25% depending on the sort. In particular, pesticide residues, Fipronil residues, were allowed to be 0.002ppm rather than 0.005ppm (2014).

Since 1993, Taiwan – Vietnam officially set up a representative economic – cultural office on each side, the amount of investment from Taiwan to Vietnam is quite large. One of the fields of strong investment in agriculture is the Taiwanese businessman who brought tea varieties such as oolong tea, … to grow in Vietnam

“Vietnamese tea enterprises need a breakthrough in the coming time. Besides diversifying the market, it is necessary to diversify tea products. In addition to the current types of tea, it is advisable to consider investing in the production of other types such as tea bags, tea cups … “- Mr. Vu Van Cuong recommended.
