“Top” 5 Leading Vietnamese Quality Seafood Exporting Provinces And Cities 

Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Thap, Khanh Hoa are the leading localities in the country in terms of “Top” 5 Leading Vietnamese Quality Seafood Exporting Provinces And Cities  in 2021.

In 2021, Vietnam’s seafood export is estimated to reach the target of 8.9 billion USD, up 6% over the previous year, despite the sharp decline in export turnover in the third quarter due to social distancing. In that brilliant achievement of the seafood industry, it is impossible not to be proud to know that Soc Trang is the leading locality in seafood export turnover.

According to the Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (Vasep), with seafood export turnover reaching over 1 billion USD, in 2021, Ca Mau province will hold the “kingdom” – leading the country in seafood export, accounting for over 11% of the country’s seafood export turnover. Data shows that Ca Mau province “holds the throne” – leading the country in shrimp exports with 97 million USD, accounting for 23.1% of shrimp export turnover of the country. In which, black tiger shrimp and white leg shrimp are USD 60.6 million, black tiger shrimp USD 1.6 million, the remaining 34.5 are other types of shrimp. Following is Soc Trang province with 986 million USD, accounting for nearly 11%.

Ho Chi Minh City ranked third with a turnover of 922 million USD, accounting for 10% of the country’s seafood exports. Ranked fourth is Dong Thap with 764 million USD (accounting for 8.4%) and Khanh Hoa with 753 million USD, accounting for 8.3% of the country’s seafood export value.

In addition to the above 3 provinces/cities, the top 5 localities in seafood export also include Dong Thap and Khanh Hoa, accounting for 8.4% and 8.3% respectively of the country’s seafood export value with 764 million USD. and $753 million.

Most of the provinces/cities have the same trend of sharply reducing seafood exports in the third quarter due to the impact of the Covid epidemic outbreak, then the export of Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh has the strongest recovery trend. Accordingly, in December, City. Ho Chi Minh City has the highest seafood sales of the year with 127 million USD, which is also the highest in the country. Ca Mau’s seafood exports also peaked in October with 127 million USD, in the last two months of the fourth quarter, although recovering compared to the third quarter, but much lower than the level before the peak of the epidemic in the second quarter.

In 2021, the United States is Vietnam’s major seafood export market  , reaching over $2 billion, up 26% compared to 2020, accounting for 23% of Vietnam’s seafood exports. Particularly in December, 2021, Vietnam’s seafood exports to the US reached 176 million USD, up 32% over the same period in 2020.

However, seafood exports to China decreased slightly by 3% in 2021, accounting for only 13% of the total value of seafood export turnover of Vietnam, instead of 16% in 2020.

Accordingly, in December 2021, Ho Chi Minh City has the highest seafood sales of the year with 127 million USD, which is also the highest level in the country. Ca Mau’s seafood exports also peaked in October with US$127 million. In the last two months of the fourth quarter, although it recovered compared to the third quarter, it was much lower than the level before the epidemic peak in the second quarter.

In 2021, seafood exports to the European market accounted for 12%, reaching over 1 billion USD, up 12% compared to 2020. Seafood exports to CPTPP countries in 2021 earned nearly 2.2 billion USD, almost equivalent to 2020.
